13. Do you support or oppose contracting out to the private sector any services currently or traditionally provided by public school employees?
This is an issue that no one should be "for" or "against." Some types of services do not lend themselves to private operation; some do. Whether a specific service should be contracted out with a private firm depends on many things, and should be made, essentially, on a case to case basis, and reviewed periodically to be certain that it is still cost-effective (and that the people who are being serviced are satisfied). If the State Highway Department was unable to depend on outside contractors, the system would collapse. Agencies must, however, have proper controls in place to monitor contractor performance.
